You do not need ten steps for healthy-looking skin. You do need to apply products in the right order, so each one can do its job. The rule is simple: apply from thinnest to thickest. Water-light textures go first, and richer creams go last to seal everything in.
Step 1: Cleanse
Start with a gentle cleanser to remove oil, sunscreen and makeup. Pat your face dry with a clean towel.
Step 2: Tone
A toner rebalances skin after cleansing and helps the next steps absorb evenly. Press a few drops into your skin with your hands or sweep on with a cotton pad.
Step 3: Serum
Serums are concentrated and lightweight, so they go on next. Use 2 to 3 drops for your face and neck, and press them in gently. Give it about a minute to absorb.
Step 4: Moisturize
Your cream locks in hydration and the ingredients underneath it. At night, this is where retinol fits best.
Step 5 (morning): Sunscreen
In the morning, finish with a broad-spectrum SPF. It is the single most important step for protecting your results.
Quick routine:
Morning: cleanse, toner, serum, moisturizer, SPF.
Night: cleanse, toner, serum, retinol cream.
Keep it simple
A short routine you follow every day beats a long one you skip. Three well-chosen products, used in the right order, cover hydration, treatment and protection.
